Our Proposals

Morrisons has been working for some time to bring forward proposals for a new supermarket and petrol filling station development on land at Canal Park, Banff. At the moment, the lack of suitable food retail options in the town means a significant proportion of local grocery spend leaves the area to large stores elsewhere.

We are proposing a store with 3,148 sq m gross / 1,738 sq m net floorspace – this is a similar size to the Tesco store in Keith. As well as creating around 120 new local jobs at the store itself, our proposal will encourage more customers to stay in town with linked trips benefitting other shops and services in Banff and Macduff.

The proposed development also includes a new petrol filling station, offering affordable fuel and electric vehicle charging for local residents.

Site layout plan for proposed Banff store

This brand new, purpose built, store will improve shopping choice for residents in Banff and Macduff and provide Morrisons’ full range of fresh food – including our popular ‘Market Street’ with specialist butchers, bakers and fishmongers.

  • Multi-million pound investment in Banff
  • Around 120 new local job opportunities
  • Customer café and toilets
  • Affordable fuel and electric vehicle charging
  • Easy highway access and 166 parking spaces (including disabled, parent & child and click & collect)
  • Extensive landscaping and planting throughout the site
Fresh produce at our new Kirkby store

In recent years we have opened several ‘new look’ stores, and we’d like to bring some of the new innovations we’ve learned from there to Banff. These pictures from our recently-opened stores show how the Banff store could look and feel.
